Training Program (Curriculum)

The training program is led by professionals from the United States, Brazil, and various European countries — trauma specialists, Somatic Experiencing® theorists, and experienced practitioners. Enrollment is actively underway for students from Europe, Georgia, and the wider Caucasus region.

The Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) Professional Training Program is delivered through a combination of lectures, clinical demonstrations, and handson practice sessions designed for students, supported by professional assistants. In Georgia, the curriculum is taught over 8 training modules across 3 years.

  • The first two years — Beginning and Intermediate Levels — include 6 modules, with each year consisting of three 4day modules.
  • The third year, the Advanced Level, consists of two 6day modules.

In addition, each training participant must complete 12 hours of individual sessions and 18 hours of group consultation in order to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).

Beginning Level

Students develop fundamental skills within the SE™ biophysiological model to support the resolution of trauma.

Intermediate Level

At this stage, students learn to assess different categories of trauma according to the SE™ model. They identify the core characteristics of each trauma category and learn specific approaches and interventions for effective work with each type.

Advanced Level

Students gain knowledge on how to work with complex trauma and traumarelated syndromes. They also develop skills in the use of touch within SE™ practice.

Program Progress

The Institute welcomed its first cohort in October 2024, and these students have already completed both the Beginning and Intermediate Levels.
